Handmade Gifts by internationally acclaimed wildlife artist & naturalist Peter Karsten
Peter Karsten is former CEO of the Calgary Zoo, and president of the Canadian, the American and the World Association of Zoos & Aquariums, and an internationally acclaimed wildlife artist and naturalist.
Peter retired to Denman Island, BC in 1994 where he is a member of Denman Convervancy Association, and the Denman Island Residents Association’s Parks Committee, Outreach Committee and Wildlife Advisory Committee, and is a local wildlife consultant.
He has been a great supporter of Corlan Vineyard, participating in harvests, promotion, and handcrafting the Corlan Vineyard lounge’s table and chairs. His handmade cedar wine boxes, cottage art bird paintings, and clay Clun sheep are available for sale in Corlan Vineyard’s Tasting Room and Lounge.

The gift boxes are crafted from Western Red Cedar trees grown on Denman island like the fine wines produced by Pat & Selwyn Jones at Corlan Vineyard. Diligent work goes into creating the wines and likewise the gift boxes which are adorned with hand painted wildlife by Peter Karsten – both found on Denman Island.
Every box is a unique functional art piece. The lid can actually be turned into a framed painting! But the box can also be passed on to a good friend to enjoy a piece of genuine craftsmanship.
